TitanProtect
The titanium dioxide is used in TitanProtect® products and is photo catalytically active. It forms oxygen radicals on its surface, if it is irradiated by light. The activated oxygen decomposes molecules and organic dirt particles that contact the surface. The decomposed substances can be washed off easily by water. For activating this effect normal daylight is entirely sufficient. With modern TitanProtect®-products even artificial light in inner rooms is possible to activate the process of photo catalysis.
A significant influence on the photo catalytic efficiency of the application has the particle size of the used titanium dioxide. The smaller the active particles the bigger is their surface in relation to their weight. That increases the speed of reaction, so products with very small particle sizes own a much better reactivity.
Surfaces coated with photo catalytic titanium dioxide are self-cleaning, anti-microbial and even able to clean our air.
